Job Ad & Profile Description
Job Summary:
Performs project financial, and some accounting, duties for FHI 360’s Global Education, Engagement, and Environment (G3E) Business Unit. G3E works globally in areas of:
- Economic participation and financial inclusion
- Workforce development and green jobs
- Education across all levels and in emergency and crisis contexts
- Civil society strengthening, peacebuilding and conflict mitigation, and governance
- Professional and academic exchanges
- Capacity development
- Social science research
Provides support to multiple departments, including Global Education (GE), Research & Evaluation (R&E), and Economic Participation & Environment (EPE). Will gain exposure to a variety of projects, countries, contracting mechanisms, funders, and technical approaches, as well as get to know many staff across the business unit. Provides support to G3E Senior Leadership, as needed. Works with various sources of funding which may include sponsored research, and federal restricted funds, grants and contracts (largely USAID funding). Performs audit function to assure accuracy and compliance with internal and external regulations. Selects and applies established procedures appropriately. Updates supervisor on status of projects as required.
Accountabilities:
- Runs monthly and adhoc financial reports in enterprise systems, such as CostPoint and TM1, for projects and portfolio.
- Monitors monthly expenditures for projects by analyzing financial data and providing monthly reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Tracks status of project financial commitments and advises re: any outstanding.
- Assists with reviewing FHI invoices to funders.
- Reviews vendor, consultant, and subaward invoices and addresses any discrepancies.
- Works with project leaders to resolve problems associated with monthly expenditures and project budgets.
- Assists with preparation of project pipelines and budget elements, as necessary.
- Performs subaward Pre-Award Assessment (PAT) under guidance of senior finance staff.
- Assists with other ad hoc requests, such as audit, reallocations, deposits, etc.
- Assists with monitoring of subaward financial performance.
- Supports review of procurement packages and ensures that requisitions and appropriate back-up documentation is uploaded in CostPoint.
- Serves as a source of information on fiscal policies and procedures including federal funding rules and advises management on existing options or alternatives to make appropriate business decisions. Elevates issues to supervisor, as necessary.
- Communicates with management and project leaders regarding proposal development and monitoring of budgets to ensure projects adhere to budget constraints and meet completion.
- Drafts other financial reports for review, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), budgeting and fiscal control theories and practices.
- Working knowledge of general office practices and administrative procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated spreadsheet and database software skills.
- Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work well with others, as well as independently, and verify and analyze financial data, identify errors and prepare reports.
Education:

Associate’s Degree or its International Equivalent.
Experience:
-
Typically requires 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with client and staff.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English; Spanish or French preferred.
- Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
