Lipa Later is a buy now, pay later platform that allows consumers to shop and pay for items in monthly installments. Lipa Later is a Pan-African organization with presence across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Nigeria - with plans of opening new markets in the near future. This position is based in Rwanda.

 About the Role

We’re looking for a smart, driven individual to assist in the finance team. The Accountant will be responsible for performing financial functions related to the accurate recording, filing, and bookkeeping of the business financial operations. This will also involve financial data collection, data entry, and report generation. The individual will also, from time to time, interact with third parties, such as vendors, customers, and financial institutions.

 Reports to: Senior Accountant

 Accountant Responsibilities:

 Loan portfolio management

 Daily, weekly and monthly Partner invoice reconciliations against disbursed loans.

• Daily repayment processing in our Loan Management System.
• Daily, weekly, and monthly repayments reconciliation.
• Daily loan approvals and disbursements in the system.
• Observation of the credit periods / limits.

 Cash/Bank

• Daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Preparing payment vouchers, expense claims and upload of accounting documents on the company accounting system.
• Reconcile monthly suppliers’ statement.
• Support Accounting department on any other task given.

Accounts Receivable

• Posting of all sales Invoices and receipts.
• Supporting invoicing procedures.
• Supporting client account reconciliations.
• Accounts receivable report on monthly basis.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• 2 + years of applicable work experience in accounting
• Familiarity with processing systems
• Ability to handle high volumes of transactions which require more time to process
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Start-up mindset and hunger to achieve great results
• Experience in sage will be an added advantage

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, or any Business relevant field preferred
• CPA and/or CFA will be an added advantage
